3 Project Planning Tips For Business

3 Project Planning Tips For Your Business

Project planning is the bigger picture breakdown of anything you want to make happen in your business!

I LOVE to talk all things planning and strategy when it comes to business. My niche may be in Pinterest marketing, but so many people don’t realize the bigger picture strategy that’s involved.

The project planning we are talking about today doesn’t have to apply to Pinterest.

What I’ve learned, is that the steps I walk clients through in their Pinterest strategy, can also be applied to other projects you are looking at taking on in your business this year.

Today we’re looking at how to break things down to the point of knowing the steps to reach a result.

Here are a few tips to break down the bigger picture into simple action steps to get you the results you’re after.

Project Planning Tip #1: Map Out the Bigger Picture

The easiest way to do this is to determine where you’re at now in your business…and also where you want to get to.

Taking a step back to map this out is key in being able to determine the best actions steps to take.

Where you’re at now, that’s your point “A”, and where you want to get to, that’s your “point b”.

I strongly recommend defining that point B to be something specific and measurable.

Also…defining a strong “why” behind your point B will help keep you motivated while working towards it.

Once you have your bigger picture plan in your mind (or on paper), the next step is to break it down!

Tip #2: Break Down Your Bigger Picture Into Steps

When you have a longer term vision with say a 12 month time frame, you can focus on one thing to work on the first quarter.

The best tip I have for this step, is to take your bigger picture and break it down into steps.

Sometimes consulting an expert to help with this is highly valuable, because you’re getting an outside perspective on your business.

For example, this is something I do with clients as a Pinterest strategist. I help clients to define the bigger picture, and then map out the steps they need to take.

An expert can pick out and recommend things that maybe you can’t see, because you are SO close to your business.

Each step should be manageable, and able to be completed in a planned period of time.

Having a map of each of the steps you need to take to get to that Point B result, is crucial for taking action.

Knowing the steps to take will help guide you in all of your planning.

This leads us into the final tip I have for you!

Project Planning Tip #3: Implement The Highest Priority First

Knowing ALL of the steps you have to take to get to the results makes this tip SO simple!

When you know the steps you have to take, you also know what has to happen first.

When you know what has to happen first…you can set a goal and action plan to implement and get it done!

This is where the rubber meets the road!

We all get caught up in those amazing plans for the future, right?!

It’s so exciting to see all those fun things on our visions boards…but it’s the action steps we take EVERYDAY that will get us there.

Those action steps WILL produce results.

Figure out what has to get done first, make a plan and implement it!

In much the same way I am right there with you! With both the clients I work with AND my own business projects.

When you break down the bigger picture into a sequence of steps, you can accomplish things that once seemed overwhelming or impossible.

THAT is where the magic happens! Because how many of your competitors get stuck and give up on those bigger picture plans?

What I hope you walk away with today friend, is the unshakable belief that YOU can make BIG PICTURE THINGS happen in your life and business!!
