The client journey or customer journey is SO important in every business.
Knowing your customer journey AND where your customers are at when it comes to Pinterest is key to both connecting with them and building a relationship with them.
Your Pinterest customers are completely different and respond differently compared to the warmer connections you may have on social media.
Today I am covering 3 tips to help you understand where your customers are at on their buying journey when it comes to Pinterest.
Client Journey Tip #1: You First Have to Connect With Your Customer
Your customers are searching for a solution to a problem…on Pinterest.
Your connections and followers on social media know you and are following you for a reason. They are warmer connections.
Pinterest users are ON Pinterest searching for solutions.
This means THEY. DON’T. KNOW. YOU….Yet 😊
All they care about is finding what they are looking for. And it’s Pinterest’s job to match users with a solution.
Pinterest users are COLD traffic…at first. Remember to think of Pinterest as your “top of funnel”.
They have yet to get to know you, and to get to know you…they have to find you.
The best way to connect with them while they are searching is to do a little research yourself.
What words or phrases would they be typing in to Pinterest? How would they (not you) describe their problem?

Tip #2: Reverse Engineer Your Client Journey
Once you have an idea of what they’re looking for today, think about where they might be 6-12 months from now.
Also, think about where they may have been 6 months ago.
Your client journey is always evolving in different ways.
Having an understanding of where they’re at today and where they are going or where they have been will always help you as a business owner better understand their needs.
When you are able to map out your customer journey, this opens up so many more possibilities to create new content, offers or ways to serve your clients.
Tip #3: Pinterest Users Are Planners
Your customers are on Pinterest likely because they are searching and discovering new ideas and are open to new solutions.
They are also planning for the future.
For example, I’ve worked with ecommerce clients in the Teacher’s Pay Teachers / Shopify industry.
Teachers will search and save pins for different classroom or lesson plan ideas. This client had an ecommerce shop of digital printables for teachers.
Her customers saved a lot of her content in the early summer months, from which they came back and purchased in the late summer before the school year started.
When you get familiar with the ebbs and flows of your seasons and your customer’s journey throughout those seasons, you will be able to show up and serve them where they’re at!
The biggest takeaway I have for you, is that Pinterest is all about connecting and building relationships.
It’s not as direct as social media, and ranking on a search platform takes time.
BUT, if you’re willing to put in the time and show up consistently for your customers, it will be worth it for your business.
